No Fly List_Shock Therapy
www.noflylistmusic.com
Kris Millett – vocals, electric & acoustic guitars
Reza Kazemi – vocals, drums, synth, guitars
Jon Hill – vocals, electric & acoustic guitar
Russ Schipilow – vocals, bass, guitars
With one foot placed in the folk/alt-country camp of Wilco/Neil Young, and the other in complete unironic admiration of 70s Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy — No Fly List compose original songs bathed in the glimmer of these timeless influences. Their debut album, Blaze On shows considerable range, with all the intensity and bluster of the best of hard rock filtered through the introspective lens of the singer-songwriter. This dynamic is firmly on display throughout Blaze On — from the rhythm n’ booze of album opener “4 Chords Away” to the pulsating, almost metal-sounding “Self Disciplined” and the fragile, plaintive psychedelic-folk of the title track.
The Fuzzard-The Flaps
www.theflaps.ca
Pat Lawlor – guitar
John Higney – guitar, lap steel, keyboards
Jamie Gullikson – drums and whacking
Martin Newman – bass guitar
The Flaps originally intended to play instrumental music reminiscent of European b-movie soundtracks — you know — the sort that feature vampire lesbians; but, after several years rehearsing in dank subterranean environs in the nation’s capital, their sound has evolved into an eclectic mix of surf-rock, Japanese film soundtracks, raunchy garage-fueled R&B and apocalyptic jazz-nerdery.
Good2Go_ C’Mon
www.good2gomusic.com
Miss Maureen – vocals
Christian Lapensee – guitar
Reg Allen – bass
Gilles Mantha – drums
Glen Russell – keyboards
The fiery and flamboyant Good2Go singer kicks out the jams with big boots and a burning rock desire. On stage Miss Maureen likes to cook the rawk with rocket fuel and that always leads to a smoking live show that you’ll never forget.
Faster than a speeding bullet, Christian lets loose some pretty friggin’ good rock n roll guitar. His vintage Fender Stratocaster can go from 0-100 mph in well under 20 nanoseconds.
Reg “Super Sizes” the Good2Go sound with his old Fender Precision bass and as an engine coolant Reg believes beer works best.
Gilles plays the drums the same way a lumber jack drops trees. His Gretsch drum kit has suffered many years of abuse but still enjoys the hard hitting brutality. Watch Gilles play the drums and you will believe!
Muffler Crunch_Have Faith In Me
www.mufflercrunch.com
Angie Barbarian – drums, lead vocals
Luc – guitar
Muffler Crunch plays the heaviest music in the world on Sparky, the crappiest guitar in the world. We ARE hard rock!

Jack Pine_Mountain Climber
www.jackpinefire.com
Gareth Auden-Hole – Mandolin, Guitars, Vocals
Martin Newman – Bass
Tim Watson – Drums, Percussion
Stuart Rutherford – Dobro
Andre Desroches – Guitar, Tenor Guitar
The jack pine is not your average tree. It sheds its seeds within a pinecone, like other pines, but the cone itself remains sealed until its seed is finally set free by the extreme heat of a forrest fire. In short, it thrives while everything around it dies. Jack Pine and The Fire, a project of Ottawa singer/songwriter/producer Gareth Auden-Hole, evokes that very same theme of finding direction in chaos. On tape and on stage, the band’s fingers strike acoustic strings with rare power and intensity, weaving intricate rhythms through striking melodies while Jack Pine’s voice, as sweet as it is raw and tattered, soars above the roaring Fire. Their self-titled debut merges the richness of roots music, the twang of old-time country, and the frantic energy of gritty rock as they hammer out a truly unique brand of driving ‘black-skied folk’; the result is a debut release that’s been called “One of the most rockin folk albums of the year!”.
Mahogany Frog_Demon Jigging Spoon
www.mahoganyfrog.com
Graham Epp – guitar/keyboards/trumpet
Jesse Warkentin – guitar/keyboards
Scott Ellenberger – bass/keyboards/trumpet Andy Rudolph – drums/electronics
Mahogany Frog is an instrumental electronic rock band from Winnipeg. The music draws influence from ’60s psychedelia, electronica, ’70s progressive/kraut-rock, jazz, 50?s “ultra” lounge and ambient/experimentalism. Using an arsenal of keyboards (Moog/ARP/Farfisa/Korg/Rhodes/Nord), cacophonous, feedback-ridden guitars, fuzz-bass and walls of electronics, the group creates dynamic, multi-layered songs which explore tone, mood and composition. Although Mahogany Frog’s unorthodox sounds and complex arrangements can challenge the ear, their haunting progressions and playful melodies are immediately catchy and satisfying. Onstage the band performs furiously and at massive volumes, often connecting multiple songs together with interludes consisting of ambient noise. Over the past decade Mahogany Frog has recorded five LPs, delivered high-profile performances at Pop Montreal, Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Prog Day in Chapel Hill, NC and SESC in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and shared the stage with notable artists such as Caribou, Deerhoof, The Besnard Lakes and Eric’s Trip. Their upcoming LP “SENNA” is scheduled for a summer 2012 release.

Tippin_Boats
www.thejohnpunchband.com
Cory Thibodeau – guitar, vocals
Chris Bradley – bass
Dylan Roberts – drums
Catchy, energetic, foot-tapping and beat-driven all describe the sound. The message that John Punch has for you comes across in the music and the band’s feelings about the message. The band reflects a growing social movement against the mainstream, which Canada seems to be leading. But who the fuck is John Punch?
Cory came up with the name: “I originally heard of John Punch from the Howard Zinn book ["A People's History of The United States"] and … it’s an awful story of racism that more people should know about, and none of us should ever forget. I’m not sure entirely why, but I’m attracted to that man’s slave name that was given to him.”

James Rossiter – guitar, keyboards
Jeff Welch – bassist
Mike Rifkin – drummer
In the five years since its inception over beers at Irene’s Pub, Ottawa’s The Reverb Syndicate has become one of the city’s premier instrumental rock bands. Following this concept has lead them to two independently released albums of original music, heavy gigging throughout Ontario and Quebec, and a headlining performance in New York City. In September 2008, The Reverb Syndicate played a series of dates in England and Scotland, hooking up with a variety of UK surf, rock and punk bands.

Uncle Sean & the Shifty Drifters
http://unclesean.bandcamp.com/
Sean Oliver – guitar, vocals
Steve – bass
Shawn – steel guitar
Ernie – drums
Peter – guitar
Drinkin’ Ramblin Honky Tonkin’, the title of the debut album from Ottawa, Ontario’s Uncle Sean & the Shifty Drifters, aptly describes their musical style as well as their lifestyle. They bring a heartbreaking mix of old time honky tonk & outlaw country, complete with blazin’ fiddles, pluckin’ banjos and wailin’ pedal steel. Uncle Sean was born & raised in Sudbury, Ontario on a steady diet of Pabst Blue Ribbon & Johnny Cash. his country twang will take you back to the good ol’ days of country music, with instant classics such as “Pour Myself a Friend”, “Six Feet Deep”, and “Country Boy Livin’ Free”.
The Shifty Drifters consist of Ottawa music veterans: Peter Pritchard on lead guitar, Steve Donnelly on upright bass, Shawn Brown on pedal steel and tele, and Ernie Legend on drums.

Ashley Newall and Friends
http://ashleynewall.blogspot.ca/
Ashley Newall – rhythm guitar/harp/vocals
Adam Fogo – bass/vocals
Brian Simms – lead guitar/vocals
Chris Cawthray - drums
Neil Gerster – keyboards/vocals
From the moment Ashley Newall first strummed a guitar, he‘s been seeking truth in music. Inspired by John Lennon, he composed his first song at 16, and released a recording of his own material within less than a year. Now more than 20 years and umpteen songs later, the mature Newall writes about love and lust, with a sprinkling of social and spiritual commentary. With styles ranging from Latin and reggae, to pop, country, rock and funk, Ashley matches lyrical themes to varying musical styles. Through his publishing company, allNew Songs, Ashley is launching his music into new realms such as cinema and television. He has already had a song placed on a nationally broadcast CBC TV show and several of his original works placed on a recent movie soundtrack.
Flow 14_ If Nobody Believes
http://www.myspace.com/flow14
Scott Williams – Vocals/Guitar
Colin Wolfson – Guitar/Vocals
Oliver Morones – Bass/Horns/Keys/Vocals
Phil Tremblay – Drums
From the sarcastic Ska muses of “Prophet for Profit” which jabs
directly at pseudo-religious cults, to the hardcore punk onslaught of “Wasted Generation” toting the infamous and facetious line “Stay In School” and “OpenFire”, Flow 14 unabashedly takes the piss out of everything they deem worthy. Thus, if you have any ties to wrong-wing politics, belief in imaginary friends or deities, or feel that anti-choice is a sane choice, then this album is not for you! Everyone else is welcome to join in.
The Big Bend_Out Tonight
http://www.thebigbend.ca/
Tom Pechloff – Keys/Vocals
Ashley Newall – Bass/Vocals
Ian Vance – Guitar/Vocals
Isaac McFaul – Drums/Vocals
The Big Bend formed in November of 2008. After 11 months of
rehearsals, the band made its debut at the venerable Elmdale House Tavern in October 2009. Blending rock and roll with the occasional hint of country, the Big Bend has been described as having a late ’80s Canadiana sound. The band went into Little Bullhorn Studios in November 2009 and has begun work on their debut album.
Woodrunners_ShallowRoots
http://www.cdbaby.com/artist/TheWoodrunners
Curtis MacPhee – Vocals/Guitar
Marc Audet – Vocals/Guitar
Craig O’Leary – Drums/Percussion
Shawn Purdy – Bass/Vocals
James Rossiter – Keyboards
Yes, to some, the band’s obsession with old lamps might seem a bit strange. But to those who know The Woodrunners, it makes perfect sense. Maybe it’s because of their distinctively warm, organic sound. Maybe it’s because they harken back to that laid-back vibe of an old lakeside cottage- the kind with mismatched furniture and unfinished walls where, somehow, everything looks like it belongs together. But whatever it is, one thing’s for sure: The Woodrunners are five guys who like to play music together. It’s been said The Woodrunners have a sound that might make you reminisce about going through a box of your dad’s dusty, old rock ‘n’ roll LPs from the late sixties/early seventies. They would describe their songs as rootsy, raucous, catchy, loose, and above all fun rock ‘n roll music. Countryish sometimes, psych-poppy maybe, or whatever, but fun, and absolutely from the gut and from the heart. The Woodrunners are what you get when a bunch of music geeks actually teach themselves to play and get a band together. Their songs are the result of common heroes and current obsessions tossed into a big pot and simmered over many nights of tunes and words. They hope you like the result, ’cause The Woodrunners had a blast making these tunes.

Steve Stacey and the Stump Splitters
http://stevestacey.com/
Steve Stacey – Rhythm Guitar/lead vocals/harmonica
Pat Robillard – Pedal Steel/Electric Guitar
Jason Woodley – dead animal skins
Dave MacDonald – Bass
Guitar/back-up vocals
John Dillabough – Mandolin/Electric Guitar
Whistling in from the hills of the Ottawa Valley comes a sound like no other. Steve Stacey and the Stump Splitters like to kick up the dust on the old country sound, to a place where pedal steel guitars reign and lyrics will not only hit home but will also entertain the most skeptical of critics. Playing some of the biggest stages in Ottawa and the surrounding area, Steve and the Stump Splitters have been making new fans fast and furious. With a new CD in the works, following up the 2004 debut Sounded Good at the Time, Steve is armed with a variety of tales, fibs, and out-right lies (for the most part) that make listening to him not only fun, but also one hell of a good time.

Tom Gillon – Guitar and backing vocals
Jeff Monette – Bass
Tom Pechloff – Piano, organ and backing vocals
Kevin Smith – Drums
Akin to a 65 Chevy pickup with Ontario plates careening down a series of mountain switchbacks with no brakes, and making it to the bottom unscathed, The Bushpilots are in their seventh year of burning up stages in Eastern Canada with their particular brand of barnstorming rock and roll.
efc-your-time-is-up
http://www.myspace.com/evilfarmchildren
Dave Kerr – Guitar and Lead Vocals
Janice Fitzsimmons – Bass and Lead Vocals
Jeb Bond – Drums and Backing Vocals
The name may sound like a B-grade drive-in horror flick, but, they are a raw and raunchy trio from Canada?s capital with a growing legion of fans, and reputation for intense stage shows. Their sound is real rock’n'roll, with a roots-rock flavour. The band can easily do a rocking surf instrumental with the fervor of Dick Dale, and, in a heartbeat, shift gears to roll right into a rockin’ rockabilly rave up, or a Stooges influenced, feedback infused, pounding rock’n'roll song.
Ken_Workman___The_Union-Highway_One
http://www.myspace.com/kenworkmanandtheunion
Ken Workman – vocals/guitar
Sean Burke – bass/vocals
Tom Pechloff – organ, piano/vocals
R.W. Haller – lead guitar/vocals
Ian Cook – drums/vocals
A native of Ottawa, Canada, Ken Workman was raised on the vinyl sounds of roots, from Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle to Blue Rodeo and Bruce Springsteen. No stranger to the road, Workman got started singing in the small pubs and bars of Eastern Ontario, sometimes driving for hours to a show only to make a return trip the same night. His
repertoire consisted of mainly cover material until he was encouraged to share some of his little-known originals.
The Flaps
http://www.myspace.com/the_flaps
Pat Lawlor – guitar
John Higney – guitar, lap steel, keyboards
Jamie Gullikson – drums and whacking
Martin Newman – bass guitar
A bunch of fellows who got together to play music reminiscent of late 60′s and early 70′s european B-movie soundtracks…you know! … the ones with vampire lesbians…angry ones….anyway, it has evolved into a slightly different animal…one that is a tad harder to describe.
Ninety Pounds of Ugly
http://www.myspace.com/ninetypoundsofugly
Patsy Clash sings
Lefty McRighty sings and plays guitar
Stand-up Steve plays the double-bass
Ernie Legend sinisterly whacks things
Blood, Sweat and Beer aptly describes Ninety Pounds of Ugly as they churn out country-tinged, rockabilly-infused, obscenity-sprinkled tales of drinking, stinking and thinking. Newcomer Patsy Clash puts a high-ball sheen on some low-brow topics covered in such soon-to-be-classics as ‘Tips & Tits Get Bigger At Midnight’, ‘Venom In My Denim’, ‘Take Your Pants Off Johnny’ and ‘I’m Batshit Crazy 4U’. Guaranteed to offend most and entertain all, NPOU is coming soon to a town near you.
We’ll be adding more to this as we go.
